Art has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. From early childhood, faces have always been my main focus. I remember being six-years-old and figuring out how to draw a nose, how to achieve the correct symmetry. I didn’t think in terms of proportions then, and I still don’t to some degree. I just had to make it look right.
I am self taught, and I draw what I see and feel. I have been described as an artist who captures emotion, and I do so by actually experiencing my subject's emotion, then translating it onto paper or canvas. Portraiture means much more to me than simply replicating a person's likeness. I strive to capture their soul.
For many years I put my artistic dreams on hold, working in the Interior Design industry, until one fateful day when I sat down with a book. That particular book opened up my artistic veins and the blood started flowing again. What started as one simple line drawing inspired by a character became a passionate series of shadows and emotion, and brought me back to my one true love
